Dental Whitening
Time, habits such as smoking or drinking coffee and stains caused by different factors gradually deteriorate our natural and beautiful smiles, making our teeth look older.
We must remember that our smile is the first tool we use in establishing a social relation, and a clear, neat and bright smile will obviously make us look younger and healthier and others will see us as neat and tidy and... Why not? Also nicer!
The progress of science has turned this treatment into a safe, simple, quick and effective procedure. One hour at our dental offices, without anesthesia, is enough to achieve the desired effect, with none of the discomforts of the past.
The treatment does not cause any harm whatsoever to dental enamel, given that all it does is remove the external pigments that deposited on the teeth throughout time.
There are some cases that are more difficult to treat, such as chemical or non-organic stains that may require a longer treatment, or cases where dental enamel has been damaged. In these cases, it may be more advisable to resort to other alternatives such as porcelain caps or crowns.
In all cases, the treatment is determined through an adequate prior diagnosis by the treating professional.
Porcelain Caps
Together with dental whitening, this is the most requested dental treatment, and consists in replacing the external side of the tooth with a thin porcelain sheet. This is very useful to correct slight misalignment of upper front teeth, slight wear caused by bruxism and enamel alteration when whitening is not enough or when the patient simply requires it for aesthetic considerations.
This procedure helps patients recover a healthy and natural smile, both in terms of color and brightness and shape and performance.
Porcelain Crowns
It is now the material chosen to restore the crown of a tooth when necessary, because its brightness, color, durability and mechanical performance notably resemble those of dental enamel.
They are used to replace the whole tooth crown when it is deteriorated due to bruxism tear, caries or else to correct slight shifts. It is also the material chosen to be placed on dental implants, because they are visibly unnoticeable and provide the natural look of a tooth.
In cases of serious tear due to bruxism, generally accompanied by annoying sensitivity, after rehabilitation with the chosen prosthetic a plaque must be made to reduce the unwanted effects of bruxism and prolong the durability of the objectives chosen.
The color is chosen by the professional and the patient together. In cases where the patient wants to have their teeth whitened, the dental whitening must be performed before crowns are ordered to ensure uniform color.
Both for dental caps and crowns, we always seek to respect the general characteristics of the patient and to obtain a natural look and a harmonic result, because it is worth noting that true beauty goes hand in hand with harmony.

Dental Implants
Before we discuss what a dental implant is, we must first understand the different parts that make up a natural tooth. For didactic purposes, we are going to divide the tooth in two, the root found on the bone and the crown, which is the visible part. Then, if we lose only the crown, but the root is healthy and complete, the tooth may be restored by placing a dental pin and a porcelain crown. However, if the root has also been lost, we need to find an alternative means to fasten the dental crown. It is in those cases that the implant plays a key role, for it works as an artificial root (a titanium root) which is embedded on the bone, just as a natural root, thus replacing the natural root lost. Once the implant has been placed, all we need to do is place a porcelain crown on the implant, thus completing the recovery of the missing tooth.
Treatment consists of two stages First stage: surgical
We place one or more implants, as required, and wait for bone integration, i.e., we wait for the implant to merge into the patient’s bone. Generally, depending on the patient’s age and bone structure, there is a 2-6 month waiting period before we may proceed to the second stage.
Second stage: Prosthetics
This is where we place the final prosthetics on the implant or implants placed earlier.
Indication of dental implant
Individual replacement of missing teeth
Replacement of removable prosthetics by fixed prosthetics
Replacement of bridges by individual crowns
As a means to fix and guarantee the stability of complete removable prosthetics, notably improving the quality of life of the patient. |
