At Natural Surg, procedures are generally carried out under local anesthesia and sedation. However, general anesthesia may be used when more than one procedure are carried out simultaneously. Anesthesia is always administered by one of our anesthesiologists, who evaluates and chooses the safest alternative for each patient.

The implant may be placed through different approaches, which generally require a small incision. Implants may be placed through an areola incision or through an inframammary crease incision. The decision regarding the incision depends on the characteristics of the breast and the implant selected. In time, scars tend to fade out and become almost imperceptible.

There are two types of implants: Polyurethane implants and textured cohesive silicone gel implants.  They also come in different shapes and sizes (round, high profile, low profile and anatomically-shaped.)
After the surgery, patients may go back to work and resume their daily activities three to seven days after the procedure, although they will experience certain breast tenderness during two or three weeks.
One of the most common concerns relates to breast-feeding. Contrary to what many women may think, breast augmentation does not affect breast-feeding.

Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that eliminates excess fat, skin and muscle tissue that appear in the upper and lower eyelids as years go by. Blepharoplasty corrects eye bags, dark eye rings and loose eyelid folds that make you look tired and older.

Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is performed under local anesthesia around the eyes, and the patient may also be sedated to feel calmer during the procedure. At Natural Surg, sedation is only administered by our team of anesthesiologists. The procedure takes approximately one or two hours, depending on whether it covers the four eyelids, the upper ones or the lower ones. After the procedure, post-op recovery is generally comfortable, pain-free and virtually free from any discomfort. This procedure is generally performed jointly with other rejuvenation procedures.

Recovery is very fast; the patient can read and watch TV after only two or three days. Besides, scars turn almost imperceptible two days to one week after the surgery.

Patients can generally resume their daily activities after only five days.

Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure that enhances the appearance of the stomach by removing excess skin and fat tissue and tensing the muscles of the abdominal wall, resulting in a flat and firm abdomen.

This surgery is ideal for patients with abundant abdominal fat deposits, significant flaccidity of the skin and abdominal muscles that will not go away with diet and exercise. It is also advisable for women that have had multiple pregnancies.

The procedure is carried out under general anesthesia and takes approximately three hours.

Recovery is not painful, and the patient only needs to be admitted for one day. During the first days after the procedure, we prescribe the continuous use of an abdominal fastener, and the patient is required to avoid physical strains and sunbathing. The procedure must then be supplemented by manual lymphatic drainage. This procedure is frequently associated to other techniques such as liposculpture, which may help obtain a slender and more younger-looking abdomen in the cases where it is recommended.

The size of the scars is proportional to the quantity of “excess” skin the patient may have. For small quantities of excess skin, the patient may have a miniabdominoplasty with or without liposuction, with considerably lesser scarring. The scars are generally located above pubic hair line and in both inguinal regions, so that they can be hidden under a bikini.

Facelift

The purpose of a facelift is to elevate and tense facial skin to reduce the folds and wrinkles, giving the face a natural younger look without signs of surgery.

Facelifts generally treat skin from the neck, the chin, the cheeks and periocular and temporal regions. Sometimes the procedure may also cover the forehead and eyebrows, or else these can be treated through a separate procedure.

In this procedure, incisions are made behind the hairline, on the skin crease in front of the ear, around the earlobe and behind it, and then following the hairline or in the scalp itself, so as to avoid any visible scars. Through these incisions, the surgeon separates the skin from deeper tissue, to a lesser or greater extent, to be able to tense it better and facilitate relaxed and natural reinsertion.

These incisions also allow the surgeon to access underlying tissue to tense it too, so that traction is not only applied to the skin but also to deeper tissues. In the same procedure, the surgeon may also reduce excess fat or tense flaccid muscles, thus giving the face a much firmer and younger looking appearance.

These procedures are generally recommended for patients over 40 years old. At Natural Surg, when advisable, we also perform more limited surgical procedures that help patients look young for a long period of time, such as a mini facelift.

Liposuction

Liposuction or lipoplasty is the surgical technique used to remove fat deposits around the body contour, through vacuum suctioning. This technique models the patient’s body, by removing local lipodistrophias.  At Natural Surg, when we refer to modeling we are talking about liposculpture.

Fat deposits may have different causes; they may be genetic, hereditary, due to overweight, sedentary life, etc.  This surgery is especially recommended for those fat deposits the patient cannot eliminate through diet and exercise, frequently resulting in complexes regarding their body image.

The surgery is performed by inserting very small cannulas (2-3 millimeters) through small incisions strategically located. The cannulas are first used to infiltrate local anesthesia, and then to aspirate and model to achieve the desired body contour. The patient is sedated under local anesthesia, for his own comfort. At Natural Surg, sedation is administered only by our team of anesthesiologists.

Recovery is painless and the patient may soon resume its social and work life, only two or three days after surgery. The patient must use an abdominal support belt for a minimum of three weeks, to reduce swelling. Generally, the final result may be seen one month after the procedure. This surgery is generally performed together with other procedures, including mammoplasty, to achieve total body contour.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a nose-reshaping surgery that can improve the appearance of the nose and, ultimately, enhance the harmony between the nose and the rest of the face.

Given that there is not one universal nose shape, the surgeons at Natural Surg carry out a dynamic aesthetic analysis of each patient’s facial structure to determine the best nose shape for each individual, preserving personality traits. In other words, the procedure must always fulfill each patient’s individual needs: increasing or decreasing nose size, lifting or narrowing the tip or the wings, etc.

The procedure is generally carried out under general anesthesia, or local anesthesia and sedation. This ensures absolute comfort for all patients, so that they do not feel any pain or discomfort during the surgery.

The surgery remodels the cartilages and/or the bones that make up the nose “without touching the skin,” given that skin is elastic and can thus adjust to the new contour.

In those cases where aesthetic issues are coupled with respiratory disorders, the doctor may need to modify the shape or dry the septum cartilage or remodel the nostrils so that the patient may breathe better. This procedure is known as a rhinoseptoplasty.
These procedures are normally performed on patients 16-17 years old and older, with fully mature nasal bones.

Rhinoplasty is one of the procedures that leave no visible external scar, given that the incisions are performed in the inner side of the nose.

In some extraordinary cases, as in the case of open rhinoplasty or when the size of nostrils needs to be reduced, the patient may have very small scars that are easily hidden at the base of the nasal wings and become absolutely imperceptible in time.

Once the procedure is complete, the surgeon generally applies a nasal tamponade (for one or two days) and a plaster cast or splint (for one week.)

Patients experience no post-op pain. Most of them resume their daily activities in a week.
